The Liberal Left Strikes Again

I never knew the left wing could be so..., well left.  I read an article this morning about how the story of Saddam Hussein's capture was fabricated.  Link: http://www.counterpunch.org/whitney03112005.html  Supposedly, one of the Marines involved in Saddam's capture is telling a different story.  That Saddam was not in a hole in the ground but rather on his feet in a house; and only after a fierce battle that left one Marine dead.

I would like to see the proof.  What is the dead Marine's name?  What do the other 19 Marines involved have to say?

Apple Computer: The Consummate Innovator

Before Microsoft Windows there was the Mac OS, built from the ground up with a graphical user interface utilizing a windowing interface paradigm.  Since the the first Mac, desktop manufacturers and GUI software development companies have been copying Apple.  Apple is the true innovator and others just follow, Microsoft included.

Apple introduced the Mac Mini in Q1, 2005; and now others follow.  An article at C|Net news this morning titled Intel shows off Mac Mini-like concept PC discusses how other PC manufacturers are being prompted by Intel to produce computers that resemble the Mac Mini in both form and function.  What they can not do is offer the Mac OS X operating system.  And I like it that way.  Apple has the final say on what kind of hardware their OS runs on.

As soon as I can conduct all my business on OS X, I will retire my Windows PC and cease using Microsoft products entirely.  Don't get me wrong, Microsoft has some good software, namely Excel.  But Bill Gate's policies are destroying consumer choice.  All in the name of profit, greed and power.   If you like choice then send Microsoft a message and Switch, before it's too later.  Listen, he's trying to lay claim to the Internet by claiming Microsoft invented the protocols that make the Internet function.  Please, slow this guy down and stop buying Microsoft products.

F*ck Symantec

First you pay for the software to prevent virus infection. Then, oddly enough a virus slips through. When you try to get help from Symantec, they're nowhere to be found. Hell I didn't even know they had a support number you could call. But I sure wouldn't pay additional money for support. Especially from the crew in India. Read about Charles Cooper's run-in with Symantec Support at C|Net News. Actually, Symantec has an online knowledge base that is effective, if you are savvy enough to know how to use it. But the bottom line is Symantec software is bulls*it. First and foremost it's a resource hog. If you don't have a meaty processor and plenty of RAM forget it. You computer will grind away for what seems an eternity just to run Symantec; and forget using anything else if that's the case. And then, why is it that computers running Symantec tend to get infected more easily than others? That's a good question. I have a Windows machine that I ran for 3 years without any anti-virus protection and not once had a problem. When I switched to the wonderous Windows XP... Pro, I started getting all kinds of intrusions. What's up with that? Currently I use Avast by Alwil. It's pretty good, (as goes anti-virus software) and the home version is free.

To add insult to injury, the anti-virus stuff doesn't protect against Adware, Spyware, Browser Hijackers and many Trojan Horses. Why you ask? Because they aren't viruses.
