1 onion
4 T shortening
1 T Paprika
1 t black pepper
2 t salt
4 - 5 lb. chicken
1 1/2 C water
1/2 pt. sour cream
Brown onion in shortening add seasonings & chicken, brown about 10 minutes. Add water. Cover & simmer slowly until chicken is tender. Remove chicken. Add sour cream to pan drippings & mix well. Add dumplings. Arrange chicken on top. Heat through & serve.
Dumplings
3 eggs beaten
3 C flour
1 T salt
1/2 C water
Mix all ingredients together & beat with spoon. Drop batter by teaspoon onto boiling salted water. Cook about 10 minutes. Drain, rinse with cold water. Drain well & add to paprikas.
I just got this recipe from my mom; and she got it from my aunt Sara. I haven't tried my hand at making it yet, but I have tasted it when Sara made it. If memory serves me, it is pretty good.
