You would think that a word like "Google" would already exist in the English language. HAve you ever refered to someone as having googly eyes? Well, I've heard that said before. I just assumed the word google was already an actual word. But not so. Googol is a word and it means 10 to the power 100; and googolplex is also an actual word. Not so for Google. So now, it has even joined that ranks of Kleenex and Tampax, being a word used to represent a product instead of a brand. Now when we want to tell someone to do a search for something on the web we say, "Google this" or "Google that".
I can remember when Google was just an alternative to Yahoo! or Altavista. Now it is a monster that has succumm to corporate greed. Google has already had their revenue model attacked, and rightfully so. When you look at it closely you can easily see how to manipulate it. Also, companies that have paid Google to be at the top of a web search are being ripped off. And besides, why should they be at the top of the search results just by paying for it. The top hit on any search should be based on usage, or proper listing and not revenue.
